VoltPopulous is an expert advisory brokerage, not a consultancy. Companies get the expertise they're missing; the FOSS developers who maintain it get paid and backed. We don't staff projects or sell hours. We broker scoped judgment and let the value land with the people doing the work.

Open source runs on initiative: people fixing the thing nobody assigned them. That's the hardest thing to fund, because initiative doesn't send an invoice. We're here to fund it anyway.

Soft infrastructure is a civic idea: the human systems a society runs on, the way it runs on roads and power. Schools, libraries, the institutions that keep things working. Open source is soft infrastructure too, and the maintainers are the people who keep it standing: their knowledge, their judgment, the hard-won expertise the whole stack quietly depends on. That's what we deal in. VoltPopulous is the span that carries it between the people who use open source and the people who maintain it.

We deal in core components, not verticals. Not your industry, the stuff your industry is built on: the database, the message bus, the security layer. The layers every vertical runs on, whatever business sits on top.

That bridge carries three kinds of traffic:

our promise

We take 50% or less. It covers the work of connecting people: making the match, handling the contract, carrying the risk so the expert doesn't have to. What we promise is the direction that cut moves. It only ever shrinks toward the people who earned the value, as that work gets easier for us. Never the other way.

That's the whole model in a line: we're an expert advisory brokerage, and the split is built to prove it over time.
